MORPHEUS 8 SKIN REMODELLING

"The lines on my face have softened significantly and what I love about it most is how many people are noticing and are saying, 'what have you done to your skin,' and then I tell them, that it’s a natural treatment and it’s all thanks to Morpheus8"

-- Judy Murray

“The results have been absolutely amazing. I’ve noticed a real plumpness to my skin and it’s much tighter… It’s been the best hour investment for looking at least five years younger.”

--Amanda Holden

What is Morpheus8 and how does it work?

Morpheus8 is non-surgical anti-ageing treatment that combines fractional micro-needling with Radio Frequency technology to rebuild skin from deep inside, allowing it to contour, lift, and tighten the skin. It can be used on both the face and the body.

Morpheus8 uses FDA approved radiofrequency energy combined with microneedles to encourage a healing response from the skin which results in an increase in elastin and collagen production. The radiofrequency energy also works to heat tissue beneath the skin to tighten connective fibres which causes a lifting and tightening effect to the skin.

The Morpheus8 microneedles can go deeper than any Radiofrequency microneedling device on the market to date, allowing it to target subdermal tissue at its lowest layers. It has programmable penetration depth and energy delivery for treatment of fine lines & wrinkles, acne scars, and general skin tone.

Morpheus8 delivers uniform results for all skin types without creating any thermal damage to your dermis. The innovative technology also reduces the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, which is a side effect of some resurfacing techniques.

What conditions can be treated or improved with Morpheus8?

Morpheus8 is known to improve many aspects of the skin including, but not limited to:

  • Reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

  • Smooth and tighten sagging skin across the face and body, including neck, legs and abdomen.

  • Soften the appearance of scars such as acne scarring.

  • Improve areas of skin discolouration.

  • Help with the appearance of stretch marks.

  • Reduce the signs of sun damage.

  • Improve poor skin texture.

  • Help tighten areas of the body like arms and stomach.

  • Improve the appearance of cellulite.

What areas can Morpheus8 be used on?

The most innovative fact is that Morpheus8 can be applied anywhere on the body that is in need of tightening, resurfacing and refreshing, including the stomach or buttocks, though it’s most famous for the profile, jawline, and neckline.

Common treatment areas are:

  • Face

  • Nose to mouth lines (nasolabial folds)

  • Jowls

  • Chin (double chin)

  • Jawline

  • Neck

  • Chest/Décolletage

How does Morpheus8 work?

Morpheus8 is a micro-needling treatment that uses advance Radio Frequency energy to strengthen, tighten and smooth skin.

As skin matures, the production of its structural proteins collagen and elastin begins to slow down. Over time, this causes skin to lose its firmness and elasticity. Skin gradually begins to sag and our contours lose definition. Similarly, concerns such as stretch marks or scarring are where the collagen and elastin fibres have broken.

The Morpheus8 is a special micro-needling device that uses 24 coated tiny “micro” pins to penetrate into the subdermal tissue. Although discomfort is minimal, the process triggers your body’s natural healing response and promote new collagen and elastin reproduction to firm and rebuild the skin. Crucially, the pins deliver clinically proven fractionated Radio Frequency energy into the sub-dermal tissue and fat, which tightens and repairs the skin by revitalising collagen. New collagen and elastin production is also stimulated. Over time, fine lines and wrinkles are diminished, skin tone improves, and your skin becomes healthier, plumper and stronger.

How long does Morpheus8 take to work?

You may start to recognise the benefits of Morpheus8 in a few days of your first session and some skin tightening within three weeks. However, complete results will be visible about three months after your final session.

What is the downtime for Morpheus8?

Downtime is minimal with Morpheus8 procedures, and you can return to most normal activities right away. However, you may experience some redness, swelling or soreness at the treatment area. This is natural and will likely disappear after several days.

Is the procedure painful?

Morpheus8 is a form of microneedling treatment, so you may experience some discomfort during the treatment but most people tolerate the procedure very well.

Numbing cream is applied to the area of treatment for 30-60 minutes in order to make the procedure as comfortable as possible.

Tenderness to the area being treated can also be felt post treatment but this should only last 24 hours and does not usually require any pain relief.

How does Morpheus8 compare to other Radio Frequency anti-ageing treatments?

The Morpheus8 can currently go deeper than any other radiofrequency micro-needling device on the market – up to 8mm – for unrivalled results. It also offers multiple needle configurations, giving us greater control and precision for remodelling your skin, as suited to your own goals and needs.

How does Morpheus8 compare to Microneedling treatment?

Morpheus8 delivers heat on the treated area and supports elastin, hyaluronic acid, and collagen stimulation at a more significant level than Microneedling. This treatment is faster with more drastic results on matured skin.

Advice prior to treatment

  • For seven days prior to treatment, avoid blood thinning over-the-counter medication such as aspirin, or ibuprofen-based medications, Omega-3, Vitamin E, Garlic, St. John’s Wort, Ginkgo Biloba. If you are prescribed a blood thinning medication such as aspirin or an anticoagulant by your doctor for a cardiovascular condition, then please check with your doctor prior to stopping the medication.

  • For two weeks prior to treatment, avoid waxing or chemical depilatories in the area to be treated.

  • For one week prior to treatment, avoid excessive sun exposure or the use of sunbeds.

  • For 48 hours prior to treatment, avoid using topical products containing retinol, AHA’s (eg glycolic acid), acidic or “active” ingredients.

  • For 24 hours prior to treatment, do not drink alcohol to avoid extra bruising.

  • On the day of treatment, arrive to the clinic with a clean face and free of make-up.

What can I expect when I have a treatment?

After the anaesthetic cream has been removed, your skin is thoroughly cleaned.

Once ready, the hand held Morpheus8 device is applied to the skin and a foot pedal is used to control the exact depth and energy that is applied to the skin. The 24 coated pins at the applicator will penetrate into the subdermal tissue, and as they do this they will also emit radiofrequency waves. The pins only penetrate for a few milliseconds and the device is then moved along the skin and the process is repeated until 1-3 passes of the treatment area have been performed.

The procedure takes about 30 minutes to perform but this will depend on the areas being treated.

What can I expect directly after the treatment?

Most people will notice redness and mild swelling similar to a slight sunburn immediately after the treatment and this can last from a few hours to a day or so depending on the depth of the treatment. Tiny traces of the microneedles are closed within hours. There may be slight pinpoint bleeding and/or bruising. For deep treatments the skin may feel dry and itchy for a couple of days and there may be a little flaking. Very rarely, some people can break out with a few spots after treatment.

You are advised not to touch the skin for a few hours. On the evening of the treatment you can shower as normal and clean the skin with either water or a simple cleanser. Any dryness or flaking can be treated with a simple moisturising cream or hyaluronic acid.

It is advised that you avoid exposing the areas to direct sunlight and that you use a high SPF suncream every day on the treated areas.

Retinol, AHA’s (eg glycolic acid), acidic or “active” ingredients should not be used for 2-3 days after treatment to allow for maximum healing.

You can use mineral makeup 24 hours after treatment.

Usually you don’t need to take any time off and can resume normal work and social engagements the next day. You should refrain from exercise, hot tubs, and saunas for 48 hours.

Are there any risks to the procedure?

Morpheus8 is an extremely safe treatment.

If you take any medications that thin your blood such as aspirin, clopidogrel or warfarin you have a higher risk of bruising from the procedure.

There is a very small chance of infection of the skin following treatment and a very small chance of scarring, particularly with aggressive treatments.

The benefit of Morpheus8’s colour blind technology reduces the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, meaning it can be used on all skin types.

The treatment does create controlled microdamage to the skin, however this should not leave any lasting damage to your skin, although you may experience some temporary side effects such as redness, scabbing, pinprick marks, swelling, bruising, and dry skin.

Am I a candidate for Morpheus8?

Morpheus8 can be safely performed on all skin types and all skin colours. It is also suitable for those with sensitive skin. As the treatment promotes new collagen and elastin, it is actually helpful for those with delicate, sensitive skin because it will cause thickening of the skin and thus reduce senstitivity.

The ideal patient for Morpheus8 is someone who is beginning to see the visible signs of ageing including wrinkles and mild to moderate sagging skin. It is also suitable for those who are looking to improve the quality of their skin, or to reduce acne scarring.

Morpheus8 may not be suitable for patients who:

  • Have used Roaccutane (Isotretinoin) within the last six months;

  • Have Eczema, Psoriasis, active Acne, Rosacea, or other chronic skin conditions in the area to be treated;

  • Are wanting treatment for scars that are less than six months old;

  • Have had facial Botox or fillers injected within the last six weeks;

  • Have had a chemical peel within the last two weeks;

  • Have open wounds, cuts, abrasions, sunburn, or active skin infection in the area requiring treatment;

  • Have had radiation treatment to the skin on or around the area to be treated within the last year;

  • Are prone to Herpes Simplex or Zoster infections as treatment can trigger breakouts;

  • Are pregnant or breast feeding;

  • Have raised moles, warts, or lesions within the area to be treated;

  • Have any history of keloid or hypertrophic scars, or are prone to poor wound healing;

  • Have a history of Scleroderma, or Collagen Vascular Disease;

  • Have a history of Immunosuppression.

The best way to see if you are suitable for treatment is to come in for a consultation.

How many Morpheus8 treatments are needed?

How many Morpheus8 sessions you require will depend on your own goals and needs, your individual response to the treatments, the severity of the problem, as well as the size of the area being treated. Most people typically require between one to three sessions.
