COMBINED EXOSOMES & MICRONEEDLING TREATMENT
What is the combined Exosomes and Microneedling treatment and how does it work?
The combined Exosomes and Microneedling is an advanced regenerative skin treatment that pairs medical microneedling with Ameela® plant-derived Exosomes, polynucleotides (PDRN), growth factors, collagen and peptides.
Microneedling creates controlled micro-channels in the skin, stimulating natural collagen production and allowing targeted delivery of regenerative actives. Applying Ameela Exosomes immediately after microneedling significantly enhances penetration, cellular communication and skin repair, resulting in healthier, stronger and more resilient skin.
What are Exosomes?
Exosomes are microscopic extracellular vesicles naturally released by cells. They act as cell-to-cell messengers, carrying bioactive molecules such as proteins, lipids and RNA that influence repair, regeneration and inflammation control.
In aesthetic medicine, Exosomes are used to accelerate healing, improve skin quality, and optimise regenerative responses, particularly when combined with treatments such as microneedling.
What makes Ameela exosomes different?
Ameela Exosomes are derived from plant sources (not human or animal tissue) such as grapefruit and watermelon, and are combined with additional regenerative ingredients, including:
-
Plant-derived Exosomes rich in signalling molecules and antioxidants
-
Wild Salmon PDRN (polydeoxyribonucleotide) to support DNA repair and hydration
-
Ameela Growth Factors to stimulate renewal processes
-
Hexapeptide-8 to soften expression lines
-
Collagen support to enhance structure and barrier function
This combination has been developed to support collagen synthesis, reduce oxidative stress, improve hydration and resilience, and encourage a brighter, smoother complexion.
Plant exosomes vs human exosomes – what’s the difference?
Plant-derived Exosomes (Ameela)
-
Sourced from fruits (grapefruit & watermelon)
-
No human or animal tissue involved
-
No risk of donor-derived viruses, prions or pathogens
-
Extremely low immunogenicity
-
Ethically uncomplicated and sustainable
-
Highly stable and consistent between batches
Human or animal Exosomes
-
Often derived from stem cells, placental tissue or animal sources
-
Carry ethical concerns around donor tissue use
-
Potential variability between donors
-
Theoretical risk of immune reactions or pathogen transmission
From both a safety and ethical standpoint, plant-derived Exosomes offer a more controlled, reproducible and transparent option for patients seeking regenerative treatments without the concerns associated with human-derived products.
Why combine Exosomes with Microneedling?
Microneedling alone stimulates collagen and elastin production. When combined with Ameela Exosomes:
-
Absorption of active ingredients is maximised through the micro-channels
-
Cellular repair signals are enhanced
-
Inflammation is reduced
-
Tissue repair and renewal are accelerated
-
Skin tone, texture and hydration are optimised
This synergistic pairing often produces more noticeable and longer-lasting improvements than microneedling alone.
How is Exosomes and Microneedling treatment different to PRP or skin boosters?
-
PRP relies on your own platelet quality, which varies between individuals
-
Skin boosters primarily hydrate but do not actively modulate cellular repair pathways
-
Exosomes actively communicate with skin cells, enhancing regeneration, repair and resilience at a molecular level
Combined with microneedling, Exosomes offer a more comprehensive regenerative approach.
What skin concerns does the combined Exosomes and Microneedling treatment help with?
This treatment can be used for a number of medical conditions as well as for cosmetic reasons:
-
Fine lines and early wrinkles
-
Uneven texture and tone
-
Enlarged pores
-
Dull, tired or dehydrated skin
-
Redness and compromised barrier
-
Early signs of ageing
-
Skin recovery after inflammatory or cosmetic procedures
It is ideal for patients who want natural-looking improvement in overall skin quality rather than dramatic structural change.
Which areas can be treated with Exosomes and Microneedling?
This treatment can enhance several vital areas, including the:
-
Face
-
Neck
-
Décolletage
-
Hands
Treatment plans are always tailored following a full consultation.
How soon will I see the results of Exosomes and Microneedling treatment?
Results often begin with improved hydration and glow within 1–2 weeks, with progressive improvement in texture, firmness and skin quality over 4–8 weeks, followed by continued collagen stimulation for several months.
How many Exosomes and Microneedling treatments will I need?
The number of treatments required varies based on individual skin concerns and goals.
Typically, a series of 3-4 treatments spaced 2-4 weeks apart is recommended for optimal results.
Maintenance treatments are typically recommended every 6–9 months for sustained benefits.
What are the side effects of Exosomes and Microneedling treatment?
Like all medicines, this treatment can produce unwanted effects.
Common, temporary side-effects include slight redness and warmth, mild swelling, slight sensitivity of tightness of the skin, and light flaking or dryness as the skin renews. These usually resolve within 24–72 hours.
Serious side effects are rare, such as allergic reactions. It is important to follow post-treatment care instructions and contact Dr Lauren if you experience any unusual reactions.
What is the downtime after Exosomes and Microneedling treatment?
The recovery period is typically short. Most patients can resume normal activities within 24–48 hours. Makeup can usually be worn after 24 hours.
Can Exosomes and Microneedling treatment be combined with other treatments?
Yes, Exosomes and Microneedling treatment can be combined with other aesthetic procedures such as hyaluronic acid fillers, Botox, and Polynucleotides to achieve more comprehensive results.
Dr Lauren will create a personalised treatment plan to address your specific needs.
